WARRENVILLE , Ill. (October 2, 2002) -International Truck and Engine Corporation produced its two millionth V-8 diesel engine at the company's Indianapolis Engine Plant on August 18, 1.8 million of which are Ford-branded Power Stroke Diesel engines for F-Series Super Duty pickups, Econoline vans and Excursion SUVs. The International T 444E diesel used in International-made medium-duty trucks and school buses rounds out the two million units.

Just eight years after the current engine model production began in 1994, the two millionth engine came off the line. The Indianapolis Engine Plant celebrated its one millionth engine in 1999 - and what took five years to accomplish has now been repeated in just over three years.

"The two millionth engine is really a great achievement, not only for the Indianapolis Engine Plant, but for International and for the industry as a whole," said Howard Miller, plant manager, Indianapolis Engine Plant. "This milestone demonstrates the growing popularity of diesel engines in personal use segments of the market, not just traditional commercial segments."

That, coupled with the fact the 98.9 percent of all Power Stroke Diesel engines produced since 1994 are still on the road today, is testament to the engine's true quality and popularity. Not only is the Power Stroke Diesel powerful and durable enough for Ford customers to accommodate hauling needs associated with their business applications, but the engine's fuel economy and smooth ride make it just as popular for recreational towing and everyday driving. . ....
