The exhaust bolts are out but they are rusted to the heads. I hit it with a lot of PB blaster and started to use a prybar.. i can get the head off the block.. but these manifolds aren't budging apart. Any ideas? I've got both a 1995 and a 1997 Explorer. The wiper switch on the 1995 was replaced once under warranty and the switch in the 1997 has been replaced twice under warranty. I can't help believe that this problem affects all of the mentioned vehicles from at least 1995 on if not in vehicles built before that. Ford's logic is probably that most vehicles older than 1999 are out of or are close to being out of warranty so if they don't cover them under the recall, the owners will have to pay for the repair even though they probably contain the same defective switch as the 1999 and 2000 vehicles they are recalling. Sounds kind of like the lateral front shake problem the 1991 and 1992 Explorers had. It took until 1995 for Ford to come up with a cure for this problem, but by then a great majority of the affected vehicles were out of warranty so if you wanted the problem fixed, all you had to do was give the dealer $1200.00 and they would install the parts to fix the problem which was created by Ford's design problem in the first place.
